Why I Built Itemizeit
A few years ago, after experiencing a loss in my family, I went through a difficult period that resulted in frequent hospital and urgent care visits.
At the time, I knew very little about medical billing. I was sometimes uninsured, didn't know what questions to ask, and eventually accumulated more medical bills than I knew how to handle.
Those bills followed me for years and had a real impact on my finances, affecting everything from my credit to my ability to qualify for major purchases and housing.
What stayed with me was how difficult it was to simply understand what I was being charged for and what I could actually do about it.
That experience eventually inspired Itemizeit.
I wanted to build the resource I wish I had then: something that helps everyday people understand their medical bills, identify what may deserve a closer look, and know what steps they can take next.
